A great deal in fact but it's a slow burn that doesn't have the length to justify it going so slow and not enough intrigue to make it matter. Written and drawn by Sean Murphy, Batman: White Knight is a non-canon eight-issue miniseries running from October 2017 to May 2018, focusing on the redemption of Jack Napier and the struggles of the eponymous Dark Knight. Baby steps aren't working anymore when you have a big bombastic finale that Murphy always has to get to and wrap up in a satisfying way. More than halfway through the serie s it still feels like it's having a hard time getting to the point. That's where some of the issue drops a little bit. ![]() Harley Quinn is back and ready to knock you out Go beyond the Gotham you know to discover an engrossing new take on the city and its heroes. Murphy is an artist first, writer second and I appreciate the levels of detail he puts into everything from the shadows, the inclusion of generations of Batmobiles, the small touches on the backgrounds and movements or actions that characters make no matter how seemingly insignificant. Plus, an unexpected ally from Bruces past could hold the key to saving the future. It made me laugh with the ever evolving relationship between Jack and Bruce even if it's in his own head, accepting that despite his disdain for the Batman mantle, he still enjoys doing Batman stuff. After taking a very long hiatus on this series to let it finish, I'm back to reading and this issue was awesome. ![]()
